May Volunteer Information

Dear KidZone Volunteers,

As most of you are aware, we have had a need for more volunteers in the KidZone area on Sundays and Wednesdays for quite a while now.  Unfortunately, we have not received a great deal of response to our pleas for additional volunteers.

As a result, I will be reformatting our class configurations for both Wednesday Nights and Sunday Mornings.  This new configuration will condense the elementary children on Sunday morning into a single group, will combine the nursery and walkers back to a single class during worship, and will bring the pre-k children in with the elementary children on Wednesdays.

I still strongly believe that having Sunday morning broken into four distinct activities is the best way to do things for our elementary children.  I have heard kids pray during church about how thankful they are that they get to do art, PE, and science at church because many other churches don’t do those things. 

In order to consolidate, volunteers in elementary will begin teaching two lessons (like pre-k has been doing).  So a volunteer in the elementary area during the Sunday School hour would do arts and crafts with all of the kids during the first 30 minutes, and then do P.E. with all the kids during the second ½ hour.  A volunteer during the Worship hour would teach the Bible lesson during the first ½ hour and do science during the second ½ hour.

Wherever possible, I will try to pair people up to allow you to work in teams of two.  Please look closely at ALL of the upcoming schedule.  It is highly likely that I will need to move some people around from where and when they are accustomed to serving in order to meet the needs we currently have.
